What are surveillance enquiries?
Quote-based field surveillance for lawful purposes such as proceedings, insurance, employment and commercial matters. Assignments are performed by external private-investigation firms and coordinated through MeshTrace. Provider identities are not routinely disclosed, except where the law requires. Start on the Surveillance page with a minimal, encrypted two-stage enquiry.
Which surveillance requests are refused?
We refuse: harassment, intimidation, retaliation or evading a protection order; tracking devices, phone interception or account access; and watching children, or family disputes without legal authority.
Does the 24-hour guarantee apply to surveillance?
No. Surveillance is delivered to the schedule and report deadline in your accepted written quote. We do not guarantee outcomes, observations, provider availability or dates until a schedule is confirmed on tracking. Overdue-refund rules for standard lookups do not apply.
How are surveillance quotes and payments handled?
If your enquiry passes screening, you receive an encrypted quote with scope, exclusions, hours, a single total including taxes and expenses, deliverables, deadline and cancellation terms. It has an expiry and can be revised before you accept. You pay the whole total once upfront by crypto or an eligible voucher; deposits are not offered. Cancellation refunds follow the quote terms; vouchers carry no cash refund.
Can I message the investigator?
Yes. Open your request’s tracking page and load its recovery file to read and send encrypted messages. Use the conversation for questions, clarification or additional details before or after delivery. Replies refresh every 15 seconds while the tab is visible. No email notifications are sent, so check the request for replies. Messages do not pause the delivery deadline, change an accepted quote or replace the completed report. Never send passwords, private keys or voucher PINs.
What do “full investigation” and “basic investigation” mean?
A full investigation involves broader research across relevant sources available to us. A basic investigation is a more limited review of available public information about the named person, company or interest holder. Neither promises exhaustive information or a particular finding. Your report explains the findings and limitations; custom work follows the scope in your accepted quote.
What is OSINT?
OSINT means open-source intelligence: researching and analysing information from publicly accessible sources. Where a module also uses other data sources, we only use information we are legally permitted to access and disclose. It does not mean accessing private accounts, hacking or bypassing restrictions.
What data sources do you use?
We use a combination of public records, open-source information and restricted-access data sources. Restricted-access sources are used only where our company is authorised to access them and the particular search meets the applicable permissible-purpose requirements. We cannot disclose the specific sources used for your search until the search is completed. After completion, source information is provided where disclosure is permitted by law and the source’s access conditions.
Why was the data source not disclosed in my report?
Sometimes we are unable to disclose the identity of a data provider for security reasons. This means a report may include findings without naming the specific provider.
Is a result or an owner’s identity guaranteed?
No. Records may be missing, restricted, outdated or ambiguous. We cannot promise to identify every owner, property, director, shareholder or associated person. A completed investigation may produce a No Records Found report. This is still a delivered result, subject to your rights under our Terms of Service and applicable law.
What will my report include?
Your report brings together the findings relevant to the selected module or accepted custom scope, with sources consulted, caveats and uncertainties where applicable. It is delivered encrypted on your tracking page. Use your recovery file to decrypt it, and independently verify information before making important decisions.
Can my final report include file attachments?
Yes. Where relevant, the team can attach up to five files, each up to 10 MiB, to your final report. Files and their filenames are encrypted before upload. Once the report is delivered, open your tracking page, use your recovery file to decrypt the report, then download each attachment. Files are decrypted in your browser; downloaded copies are unencrypted, so store them securely.
How long does a lookup take?
For standard and custom lookups, a completed report is due within 24 hours after MeshTrace verifies sufficient payment or a valid voucher is redeemed. The clock does not start when an unpaid request is submitted. Custom quote review has no promised turnaround time; its delivery clock starts only after the quote is accepted and funded. Surveillance enquiries are excluded and follow their quoted schedule.
How do custom quotes work?
Choose Custom on the request page and describe what you need looked up. We review the encrypted details, then offer a price and scope or decline with a reason. Use your recovery file on the tracking page to read the response. Accepting a quote opens payment options but does not itself charge you. There are no automatic quote emails, so check tracking for updates.
Do I need to connect a wallet?
No. Choose one of the supported cryptocurrencies and networks, then send the displayed amount to the supplied address or scan its QR code. The selected asset and network must match exactly. Your NZD service price is fixed, while floating crypto exchange rates and provider minimums apply.
What if confirmations arrive after payment expiry?
If you sent crypto before expiry, the request can still proceed normally once NOWPayments confirms sufficient payment, even if confirmation arrives later. An expired display alone does not cancel an on-chain transfer. Do not send new funds to an expired invoice or pay again while a transfer is unresolved. Contact us with the request ID and transaction hash if it remains unresolved.
How do vouchers work?
Select Voucher before creating a crypto invoice, then enter the voucher number and PIN. A valid voucher covers 100% of one eligible lookup and can be used once. A custom lookup must have an accepted quote, and the voucher must permit that product. Vouchers cannot be mixed with a crypto invoice already in progress.
What happens if my report is late?
An overdue crypto-funded standard or custom lookup qualifies for a manual refund of the full crypto amount received on its original network, and the report is still due. Save a receiving address you control; we pay the outgoing refund network fee. Refunds are not automatic or instant. Voucher-funded requests have no crypto payment to refund, but the report remains due. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
Why must I save a recovery file?
It contains the request ID, access token and private key needed to track and decrypt your request. Keep it private and download the updated copy after submission. We cannot reconstruct a lost private key. Never email your recovery file, private key or voucher PIN to us.
